Paper: Clark Kent or Superman? Both.

People think paper is just flimsy piece of scrap wood pulp that is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Those people are wrong. While you may think of paper as the Clark Kent of the world, we know the true identity is more like Superman.

It’s a remarkably adaptable, useful and easy-to-use packaging material. A.K.A. it’s Clark Kent. But would you believe that it can also cut through lumber like it’s nothing? It can be as strong as Superman. Don’t believe us? Watch John Heisz of ‘I Build It’ give us a newfound respect for the word papercut.

Yup! That is paper cutting through wood. Now pick your jaw up off the floor and keep reading.

John writes on his blog: “…the paper I used was nothing out of the ordinary – just regular printer paper with no special treatment. Add to that the time of year (it was hot and humid, making the paper fairly limp with moisture), it’s amazing that it worked at all.”

No, John. What’s amazing is that we’ve allowed paper to be defeated by scissors in the “Rock, Paper, Scissors” game for all these years when clearly paper can carve wood better than any scissor could dream of!

Paper is tough stuff. Like Robert Conrad tough.

At Ernest Packaging Solutions, we love paper, and we know how to make magic happen with even the simplest of materials. Paper is even the driving force behind our hugely successful Cardboard Chaos series that tests the creative and engineering limits of corrugated paper. It’s tough, provides security and if you work with Ernest Packaging Solutions we’ll even make it pretty!
