CARDBOARD SESSIONS. THE BIG EASY SOUND ON IMPOSSIBLE PAPER INSTRUMENTS.
July 15, 2022
CARDBOARD IS ALL THAT JAZZ.
Today’s about to become your favorite day because we just released another new episode of Cardboard Sessions—where world-famous artists come together to rock out on our paper instruments.
By partnering with Signal, we’ve set up the perfect place for musicians to create freely. No scripts. No filters. Just jamming. The results? Original tracks that’ll have you on your feet dancing (or headbanging) in seconds.
Like every episode, this one includes something special. So, sit back and plug in your headphones for episode 5 featuring James Andrews, Shannon Powell and the Crescent City All Stars. And of course, our cardboard Fender Stratocaster and Masters of Maple drum kit.
NOLA LEGENDS TAKE ON CARDBOARD.
Our latest Cardboard Sessions episode will give you a little taste of the famous Jazz Fest in New Orleans.
First, we have trumpeter James Andrews—one of the only people to be compared to the great Louis Armstrong. This trumpeter extraordinaire and New Orleans native has played with a variety of brass bands before forming his own (the very band featured in this episode). James has also performed with Quincy Jones and Danny Barker, to name a few. His impressive resume isn’t surprising—he comes from a musical family. His grandfather is the late Jessie Hill and his brother is Troy Andrews, aka Trombone Shorty. With his unique sound, James keeps the flame of New Orleans soul and R&B alive.
On drums, we have another New Orleans legendary resident—Shannon Powell. His commanding technique and style have given him international recognition. He’s toured with just about everyone, including Ellis Marsalis, Donald Harrison, Leroy Jones, Topsy Chapman and a whole bunch of other artists and bands that can’t fit in one paragraph. Shannon is known for mixing traditional jazz with funk and lending his unique vocals to his tracks.
Like all true jazz music, this episode features an ensemble. The talented Crescent City All Stars are in charge of the corrugated guitar, as well as some brass and bass.
Get ready for an epic and energetic performance.
BACKSTAGE PASS TO INNOVATION.
Our paper instruments make for the best musical partners thanks to our Senior Design Specialists. It’s this team and their innovation that created our corrugated guitar and drum kit (and all our other impossible-turned-possible cardboard creations).
Now, plug in your headphones, crank up the volume and imagine yourself at Jazz Festival as you listen to these soul soothing sounds on SoundCloud. Make sure to subscribe to our page to be the first to know when we release another episode.
